Blind man’s wife desperately appeals for help to support orphaned grandchildren.

Staff from Bayaa Branch conducted a field visit to the home of a poor woman, Zainab, A. They found that she lives in a house which the family inherited, along with her husband, and the orphans of her deceased daughter, whose father abandoned them. 

This woman and her family live under poor conditions.  Her elderly husband is blind and cannot work. He receives a small social welfare salary income of 174.000 IQD (approx. £102) per month.  This does not meet the cost of his medication and monthly medical reviews, let alone providing for a family. 

The poor grandmother provides for her grandchildren as best as she can. They continue to attend school even though she struggles to meet their educational requirements. 

This family needs: 

-  Monthly medical sponsorship of 50.000 IQD (approx. £30) to pay for the husband’s necessary treatment. 

-  Monthly sponsorship for each orphan 25.000 (approx. £15). 

-  A donation of 150.000 IQD (approx. £90) to support the family’s needs. 

The Chairman of Shakiry Charity donated a food and clothing voucher to the family. 

Staff from the branch and the family appeal to people of charity to reach out and help this family in their need.
