Mother of seven orphans appeals for help 

Staff from Najaf Branch undertook an inspection visit to the widow Rana A.A. who lives with her husband's family in single room, together with her seven orphans, following the death of her husband.

This mother bears sole responsibility for her seven children. She has no source of income apart from a social benefit allowance of 270,000 IQD (approx. £160) which is insufficient to provide for the most basic necessities for her large family. One of her sons works in construction earning a daily wage to help his mother provide for some of the family's needs.  Rana insists on the other children attending school, and completing their education.

The outcome of this inspection revealed that this family is in dire need of:

- Ongoing monthly orphan sponsorship of 50.000 IQD (approx. £30) per orphan (x6) per month

- A donation of 300.000 IQD (approx. £180) to buy a refrigerator.

- A donation of 200.000 IQD (approx. £120) to buy winter supplies and blankets.

- A donation of 110.000 IQD (approx. £65) to buy a heater.
