Repeat Distress Appeal

Staff from our Branches regularly undertake follow-up visits to families and people in distress who have previously contacted Al-Shakiry Charity for support.

One of such visits was undertaken by staff from Najaf Branch to check on the wellbeing of the widow Nisreen A. A and her family.  They discovered that they still live under difficult conditions.

Nisreen was left solely responsible for the care of her three orphans following the death of her husband. They live in a house in a slum area.  The house lacks the most basic necessities due to their severe poverty.

Two of her orphans are in full time education.  The eldest child had to leave school in order to work to provide for some of the needs of the family  He collects metal cans earning wages of 4000 IQD to 5000 IQD (approx. £2.50 - £3.00) per day.

They have submitted an application for a social services allowance.  Meanwhile, they are not receiving any support. Life is very difficult.  Nisreen’s mother-in-law and brothers-in-law rely on her as well.

This family needs:

- Ongoing monthly family sponsorship of 50.000 IQD (approx. £30) to be included in the Shakiry Charity food and clothing program.

- A donation of 300.000 IQD (approx. £180) to buy a refrigerator.

- A donation of 200.000 IQD (approx. £120) to buy a cooker.

- A donation of 200.000 IQD (approx. £120) to buy a washing machine.

Staff from the branch and members of this poor family appeal to people of charity and compassion to help provide for some of their needs.
