Widow and her four orphans appeal for help

Staff from Basra Branch visited the widow Sanaa A.A and her family.

The family consists of five members, living in a rented house belonging to the Awqaf, for which they pay 200.000 IQD (approx.  £120) per month. The house lacks the most basic household essentials, due to the family's poor financial situation.

Following the death of her husband, the widow took full responsibility for her four orphans.  She was forced to accept work as a cleaner in a school, for which she earns a small salary.  Unfortunately she has many debts which consume the money she earns. She is thus left with no money to support her children.

Three of the children are still in education.  The fourth daughter unfortunately had to drop out of school to care for her siblings whilst their mother is at work.

Sanaa met with staff from Basra Branch to discuss her dilemma.  They stressed how important it is for her to earn an income so that she can support her family.  She suggested that she would like to start a simple business from her home, but she needs capital to start.

The family suffers from very difficult and harsh conditions and they need assistance.

To help this family, they need:

- A Donation of 500.000 IQD (approx. £300) to establish the project.

- A Donation of 200.000 IQD (approx. £120) to buy a cooker.

- A Donation of 350.000 IQD (approx. £210) to buy a wardrobe.

- A Donation of 125.000 IQD (approx. £75) to buy a TV.  

We hope that good people would look with compassion at the situation of this family, and the difficulties they suffer, and they will reach out to provide them with the assistance they desperately need.
