Najaf Branch:
Special Awareness Seminars. The need to start small projects
Under the patronage of Mr. Abdul Sahib Al-Shakiry, founder and chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Shakiry Foundation for Social Solidarity (Iraq) and in association with the directives of senior management in London, Al-Shakiry Charity, Najaf Branch, held an Awareness Seminar for poor families registered with the branch. The seminar focussed on the need for struggling families to work from home, or employ one of their children, who are able to work, by starting a small project that can support the family in providing for some of its needs.
Ideas for small home projects were discussed. Obstacles facing families, and the facilities that the branch can provide to such families were presented.
Ideas put forward included repair and maintenance of electrical and electronic appliances; craft and artistic work - such as painting furniture, coordinating gift baskets, stained glass, providing home services e.g. carpet cleaning, making holiday decorations and gardening; opening small kiosks specialised in selling foodstuffs, all of which are in great demand.
This seminar comes as part of a series of Guidance Seminars provided by the staff of Najaf Branch to support, and encourage poor families, registered with the Branch, to earn an income.
