Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) and Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) have donated 1200 tickets to the Al Ain-based Private Centre for Care and Rehabilitation for the inaugural Summer in Abu Dhabi family festival, a unique eight-week entertainment and educational event set to redefine the UAE's summer season.
The special guests will have unlimited access to the festival's various edutainment offerings from its opening on June 26, 2008 up to August 18, 2008.
"Summer in Abu Dhabi is for everybody, regardless of their background. It has been carefully designed to offer activities that are fun and productive, but are also stimulating to all. The show is suitable for all nationalities, cultures, beliefs and abilities; we're donating these tickets to highlight this fact. We are also donating these tickets because it draws people's attention to invaluable work that the Private Centre for Care and Rehabilitation does in helping disadvantaged children," said Faisal Al Sheikh, ADTA Head of Events Section
The Centre, a non-government organisation inaugurated in January 1999, looks after mentally-disadvantaged local children in the UAE but has recently been extending its assistance to other Gulf countries through the support of highly-experienced specialists. It continues to develop educational and behavioral programs applying advanced methods suited to the UAE and the Gulf.
Visitors from the Private Centre for Care and Rehabilitation can choose from any of the seven themed "islands" housed inside 13,000 square meters of fun-filled air conditioned indoor space at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The special islands of the festival will showcase special Discovery; Imagination; Adventure; Fun; Creativity; Action; and Heritage & Culture environments.
Summer in Abu Dhabi will feature various attractions such as a unique ultra-violet puppet show; the award-winning "Robot Zoo" animatronic exhibition; an Optical Illusion Gallery; a 1,000-square-meter "Science of Spying" interactive educational exhibition sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Police; and a circus show. Famous guests such as current UAE speedboat champion and Union Internationale Motonautique F1 Powerboat World Championship contender Thani Al Qamzi will also attend the opening day of the event.
The Private Centre for Care and Rehabilitation is currently preparing a new residential and school unit targeted for completion by the end of 2008. Interested parties may donate in cash or in kind by contacting the Centre at donations@apccr.org
