As salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullah
Bismillahi rahmaani raheem
One behalf of The Lady Fatemah Trust, welcome to our June newsletter and may we first start by wishing you all hearty congratulations on the birth of our blessed lady, Bibi Fatemah (a.s). It is thanks to your generosity that we can continue to serve, and may The Almighty reward you all for your kindness. As our beloved lady (a.s) has said,
‘Those who present their selfless deeds to Allah, He bestows on them His greatest fortunes'.
Ramadhan Iftaar Relief:
As we rapidly approach the holy month of Ramadhan, we are appealing for you to assist once again with our Ramadhan Iftaar Relief Project. With your generosity we can reach out to even more families during the month when Allah's mercy is reaching out to each and every one of us. We will inshallah send iftaar relief to the following countries; Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, India and Tanzania. The average cost per family is just US$ 50.00 for the entire month.
Iran:
142 patients were treated during April, making the total 2,950 patients treated between October 2005 and April 2008. One of the aims of the MRP is to assist patients obtain treatment, so they are rehabilitated and can then work again. In the past few months, we have been working with Khordad Hospital in Tehran. This hospital specializes in trauma surgery and burns treatment. Most patients are young men especially Afghan refugees, who have suffered severe accidents at work. Another group of patients whose number is rising are Iraqi patients suffering from health problems due to injuries sustained in terrorist attacks and roadside explosions. A tiny four-year-old girl suffered spinal injury leading to paralysis of her legs in a car accident recently, following a roadside bomb which exploded nearby the car she was travelling in. Three further patients suffered with shrapnel injuries to the head and eye, and needed complicated surgical intervention that cannot be performed in Iraq. They all come from poor families and cannot complete their treatment without financial assistance. Please help us assist this program; many patients urgently need our help. Read More
Husseiniya Amir al-Mo'mineen located in the Dowlat-Abad region south of Tehran, offers free accommodation to Iraqi patients coming to Iran for treatment. While conditions are obviously basic, the head of the Husseiniya does his best to provide services that are suitable for patients and their accompanying persons. However, due to the huge increase of patients coming to Iran for treatment suffering with various different diseases, the hygienic conditions have become unsuitable. The building needs general cleaning and disinfection, blankets need to be washed and ideally two cleaners employed. In addition, food needs to be provided to these patients, so they can recover after their treatment. The Husseiniya has cooking facilities and poor patients can have dinner whenever there are services. However, on many days there is no food. It costs only slightly more than a pound to feed a poor patient. Providing cleaning agents and an industrial washing machine to wash the blankets regularly, as well as paying the salaries for two cleaners and providing one meal per day for 50 patients during the coming four months will cost about 7,600 GBP. Please LFT donors, help us support this worthwhile cause. Read More
The number of orphans continues to rise in Iran sadly at an alarming rate. Sponsoring an orphan only costs £15 per month, and gives these little children some hope for the future. Please do something great, and help an orphan today.
Iraq:
LFT has orphan sponsorship schemes in Karbala (300 orphans), Basra (140) and Najaf (102). Last month, 15 of our 60 orphans sponsored in Basra did exceptionally well in school. To acknowledge their achievement, LFT arranged with IRAC to buy them each a gift for school. We now have an received appeal to sponsor 300 orphans from al kurt town which is 5 hours by road from karbala.
Families who live below the poverty line have to make cuts to the food budget in order to survive. Because of their high cost, meat, chicken and eggs, these protein-rich items are the first to be reduced. However, protein-deficiency can result in serious health problems, especially among children. Children who consume too little protein are liable to suffer from reduced grow and weight, liver problems and anaemia. IRAC, with funding from LFT, distributed meat packages to 339 vulnerable families in Karbala (2,114 persons), during the month Jamadi al-Awwal. Each family received a package of 1.25 Kg of fresh meat, which was delivered directly to their doorstep. Read More
An emergency appeal has been received this month to assist a 63year old father suffering from blood cancer. There are nine people in his family. He requires six injections, costing $2,000. The medication need to be sent over from Iran as it is not available in Iraq. Please assist this appeal.
714 patients were seen in May for sight tests at the Karbala Eye Clinic, of which 673 were diagnosed with some form of eye pathology. 424 blood pressure checks were carried out, and 11 patients treated with laser eye surgery.
India:
An appeal has been received from a deserving young man, who wishes to study for a BTech degree in Lucknow. BTech has good job prospects in India. He has been admitted to the Integral University of Lucknow, but requires Rs. 70500/- to complete the admission formalities. We have agreed to continue to sponsor him, subject to his academic record being good. As with all our educational funding, we ask that the students once they graduate, in turn support LFT so we can continue to sponsor other students.
An appeal was received this month to assist an orphan child, studying at St Andrew's School, North Karnataka which we have agreed to support. As always, we have requested school reports, and semester results.
LFT transferred 35,000Rs this month to the Narayana Hrudayalaya Institute for cardiac sciences, to assist a little baby requiring cardiac surgery. The infant's family tried to raise as much money as possible by selling their valuables including gold, and a bicycle. However, only 8,000Rs was raised. We will inshallah keep you updated with the child's progress.
Pakistan and Kashmir:
In partnership with the Munawwar Foundation, 53 cataract operations were undertaken in May, and 56 in June. Thank you for giving these people the precious gift of sight. 120 cataracts were performed though another partnership.
Tanzania:
LFT is currently involved in a housing project in Arusha, entitled "Um Bilal Save the Child Housing Project BY LFT". So far one house has been built, which will inshallah prevent young children from getting burnt. Also, a trough has been constructed in the front and back of the house roof to allow rain water to gather, which can then be boiled, and used instead of travelling to purchase water daily. The cost for the housing project is $ 1,350. Please give generously.
lft has been approached to assist the eye clinic with a visual field analyser costing euro 5,975.85. Please help us donate this vital equipment.
