LFT Donors Please continue donating towards this Project

You must avail yourselves of five things before facing five others: life before death; health before illness, leisure before occupation, young days before old days, and wealth before poverty (Prophet Muhammad (saw))

In the month of August, IRAC's Medical Referral Project assisted 85 patients with the cost of urgent or essential medical treatment. Almost one third of these patients were less than 19 years old.

One of these cases is 15-year-old Fereshteh Ja'fari. The social worker of Ali Asghar Public Hospital for Children called IRAC asking for assistance for this patient. When IRAC's patient guide visited the hospital and asked to see Fereshteh's accompanying person, she was surprised to meet a 12-year-old girl. The social worker explained that this was Fereshteh's younger sister Fatemeh, and that the girls' parents had both passed away.  Fereshteh and Fatemeh live with their paternal grandparents. The grandfather is paralyzed and an unmarried uncle works and provides for the family. An unmarried aunt raises the girls together with the grandmother. Fereshteh suffers from Tuberculosis as well as cancer of the lymphatic glands. Both conditions are serious but curable. However, she needs long-term treatment and the cost is very high.

In addition to assisting with treatment cost, IRAC also arranged to include the sisters in its orphan sponsorship program funded by LFT. Fereshteh cannot attend school due to her illness, but IRAC expressed its readiness to carry Fatemeh's school fee if she wants to register when school begins after the summer break in late September.

IRAC sees heartbreaking cases like this one every day. Each patient who enters the office has a different story to tell, one more harrowing than the other.

Dear LFT donors: These patients are desperate and need your help. Please, continue to assist your less fortunate sisters and brothers.

Signed: Management IRAC, Iran
