DearLFT Donors. It cost ONLY GBP 35.00 only to assist an Orphan in Iran to continue studying

Islam makes it compulsory for every Muslim, man or woman, young or old, to continue to acquire knowledge and skills. Of course, studying is especially important early in life, when a young person acquires an education that will provide the basis for his or her gainful activities throughout a whole life.
IRAC received a donation of 500 GBP from Lady Fatemah Charitable Trust, which was earmarked for educational expenses for orphans. Over a period of ten months, fifteen students received varying amounts of assistance that would enable them to continue with their studies:

- Maryam Aswadi is an exceptionally gifted orphan who worked hard to enter university. However, it was increasingly difficult for her mother to pay her fees and the family was running up a crippling debt. With IRAC’s assistance, Maryam was able to continue her studies without putting undue strain on her family.

- Tayebeh Gorge-pour had graduated from university but was unable to find work in her field due to her refugee status. Tayebeh wanted to contribute to the family income and was considering skills training. With IRAC’s assistance, she is attending computer courses.

- Reza (aged 15) and Atefeh (aged 12) Alami are Afghan orphans whose mother is suffering from a psychiatric disease. Both children had high averages (18.5 and 19.48 of 20 respectively) and wanted to continue attending school. However, their mother was unable to pay the fees Iranian public schools demand from Afghan refugee students. With IRAC’s assistance, both children continued to attend school.

- Jamilah and Latifah Husseini are sisters and come from an Afghan refugee family. Their father passed away in 2002. Their mother provided for her three children by working as a seamstress until she sustained severe burns and became temporarily unable to work. Jamilah and Latifah had to discontinue their education. With IRAC’s assistance they signed up again for the 2008-2009 academic year.

- Orphaned Afghan refugee children Bismillah and Abdullah Tajik continued to attend junior high school with IRAC’s assistance.

- Redha Iskandar is a ten-year-old newly-arrived Iraqi refugee. His mother came to Iran to join her family after her husband passed away in 2007 due to a brain stroke. With IRAC’s assistance, Redha can continue his education at a school for Iraqi refugee children that teaches in Arabic. When the security situation improves in Iraq and Redha’s mother feels that it is safe for a woman to live there on her own, he will be able to re-integrate into the Iraqi school system.

IRAC also purchased school uniforms for six Iraqi refugee girls who study in Iranian public schools. Girls are not allowed to attend school in Iran without a uniform.
