When she applied in March, a check-up revealed that vision in her left eye had been restored to normal. Surgery was then performed on Anwar’s right eye. She has now returned home and leads a totally normal and active life.
Aziz-Begum, aged 56, who comes from the village of Dalwal in north-eastern Pakistan, has a similar story. She was no longer able to distinguish the faces of her grandchildren and could not help her daughter-in-law with the housework. Aziz-Begum felt helpless and useless. Her husband could no longer endure her suffering and took her to Munawar eye hospital. The day after her successful surgery, Aziz-Begum was delighted to recognize every single grandchild. She said: “I felt a little pain after the operation for one day but it was easy for me to ignore the pain as I could see the beautiful faces of my grandchildren.” Aziz-Begum has returned home and is busy again helping her daughter-in-law to raise her children.
