Dr. Hussein Ali Khamis, a senior Agent in the Ministry of Health Stated that plans for the coming years focus on the establishment of health centres and hospitals.
Khamis, state that to the correspondent for the (News Agency, Iraqi Information / INA) stated that there are 210 hospitals in Iraq and the country is in need of 400, and there are only 32000 beds available not enough as there is a need for 200,000 beds to be able to provide high standards of care as in other countries. Before 2003 reconstruction and development of new hospitals was very limited, and this is another negatively on the current reality.
The biggest obstacles facing the ministry and especially in the implementation of plans, at the moment is the budget. There is insufficient funding to finance the new hospitals.
