The suddenly sound of a bullet fired from one of the rooms in the house, made the mother go and check, the sight of her twelve year old son (Safaa) made her loss her mind, she found her son swimming in a pool of his own blood after he shot himself with his father’s rifle, causing disruption of his liver, which led to his death hours after the incident. The mother could not understand what drove her son to commit suicide, but then she remembered a conversation between his and his father that took place two days earlier; his father used harsh words with him when he failed his studies, and warned him of the consequences of not passing his sixth year grade exams. The mother understood the reason for his suicide but it was still big and painful shock for both the mother and the father.
Ahmed Salah, one of Safaa Altalib’ friends described him as being reckless and always looking for trouble but he didn’t have evil spirit. He added that Safaa neglected his studies and didn’t care much about it, while his friend Samir Majid denied that, he spoke in a tone of sadness saying that: (I was surprised to hear of his death because he was a good person, but he was neglecting his studies and failed twice in the sixth grade, so that why his family was up set as they received his monthly examinations results, where he was always failing.

(Dr. Mahmoud Shamal), Professor of Social Psychology stated that the reasons for suicides to end their lives: are social, family, economic and cultural reason which have a major impact on the lives of the individual. Teenagers committing suicide belong to all social classes equally and that the main reason for suicide is school failure and what increase the seriousness of this is the high expectation of the parents and the pressure they place on their children to achieve more than they are capable of. The parent restore to the use of force and oppression and threat to get what they wanted
Dr. Mahmoud attribute to the phenomenon of suicide, on life pressures and the widening gap between their dreams and achieve them in these difficult times in which bribery and the lack of equality in all fields. This is an indication of the growing problems that have not received the attention of others and lead to the result of despair and frustration exacerbated by the thought of suicide, especially if the suicide suffers from depression.
Dr. (Maher al-Latif Alnaeem)) Professor of Mental Health, Institute of Psychiatry pointed out that the reasons for the suicide are primarily related to dysfunctional families and those who suffered from many problems between the parents or the brothers themselves, for different reasons, some of the reasons might be emotional, But we should not forget the failure of economic. Most young people are unemployed, according to statistics, the percentage of unemployment rise to devour, the most important category of young people who are vital and therefore how can we protect our youth from this danger, that threatens their lives and not allowing them to secure jobs or stable work and decent living to enable young people to benefit
Themselves and their family then? All of this lead to a psychological crisis and depression and worse in some cases, which my lead to the young person to end their life.
Suicides in the hospital emergency
We visited the emergency ward in a hospital in “Madint Alteeb” and monitored closely the cases of suicide, one of the resident doctors (unnamed)"The number of suicide per week is increasing according to hospital records, especially females cases.
Admitted to the hospital a young man who committed suicide after Being sexually assaulted he shot himself, but was not fatal bullet was removed after an operation. The emergency doctor told us of a suicide attempt by an unmarried young girl after she noticed early signs of pregnancy; she was accompanied by her mother and her brothers who didn’t know that she was pregnant. The girl slashed her wrist and was saved at the last moment. She begged the doctors in the ER to keep her secret but her brother realized soon and threatens to kill her.
The doctor in charges explained that not all suicide attempts were serious attempts cases. There have been many cases of attempts to attracting attention, but nevertheless We must take the matter very seriously, even if the act is a kind of absurd. There are two principles that doctors work with the first is not possible to avoid all forms or suicides, but the majority of which could be avoid, the second principle is that only a small number of suicide take place without any previous warnings or signs.
The majority of doctors have painful memories of young people of both sexes who died after unserious attempts of suicide, which proved by their dying words or by the relatives, they did not intend to end their life, but in emotional and depressing moment they did.
A question remains unanswered, what drive humans, young or old, males of females to despair and end their lives voluntarily and choice death over life?. This question to reveal the causes of those cases we have seen in the Emergency Department and those which we heard about. The feelings of loss and of humanity remorse and regrets. Makes one wonder if there is any human social phenomenon, and conditions that enable researchers and specialists to investigate this phenomenon and to develop alternative solutions for dealing with it in our society before it escalate. A society that is known for its high spirit, religious traditions and social development.
