Nineveh province, signed agreement with a number of Italian organizations with an agreement to treat patient with Thalassemia, which showed a remarkable increase among new born children in Mosul.

The governor of Nineveh Ethel AlNajifi stated that: "There was a discussion of a prevention program of Thalassemia and the possibility of cooperation of the Italian organizations to provide assistance for the treatment of patients."

AlNajifi also added that it was also agreed to provide all the means that would serve the health institutions within and outside the city, calling for health institutions in the province in cooperation with these organizations.

The  director general of the health of Nineveh province, Salahuddin Znon  stated "Italian organizations have modern methods of diagnosing the disease early on, and the  knowledge of begin treatment early."
