In May the Danish Government announced it was to deport 282 Iraqi refugees.  More than 40 have so far been forcibly deported to Baghdad.  Eighty Iraqis and supporters occupied a church but were violently removed by police.  25,000 people demonstrated in solidarity with them and against the government's policy.

In February 2008 the Swedish Government signed an agreement with the Iraqi Government.  111 people have since been forcibly deported to Baghdad.

According to Home Office figures, 632 people have been forcibly deported to Iraqi Kurdistan between 2005 and 2008. The International Federation of Iraqi Refugees estimates that the total, with monthly mass deportation flights deporting 50 Iraqis at a time since the beginning of 2009, currently stands at over 1000 people.

The International Federation of Iraqi Refugees says:

'We need to stand with Iraqi refugees, and the 25,000 freedom living people who demonstrated in Denmark and show our disgust at the sordid politics being played out.  The Iraqi Government has admitted it is accepting forcible deportations from Denmark so it will not have to pay back some of its post-war loans, and it refuses to take any responsibility for the forcible deportations from the UK Government, to which the corrupt puppets now running the country owe their power.'
