On the 2nd May 2010 the Iraqi Charities Forum team participated in a sponsored walk to help raise money for the Leukaemia and Lymphona Research charity. The “Forget Me Not Walks” that take place throughout the UK are a wonderful way of supporting Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
The Vice-Chair (Mr Kamil al-Sharifi) who was accompanied by two other ICF volunteers (Mrs Khalida al-Rubaii and Miss Walaa Majid), walked side by side with other Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research supporters, as they embarked on a three hour walk along the River Thames in the pouring rain! The wlak started at Teddington Lock and ended at the Kew Garden. At the finish line all the volunteers received their “Forget Me Not” medals, and most importantly, they passed over the money they had raised from their sponsors!
In 2009 the “Forget Me Not Walks” raised an impressive £120,000 for research into leukaemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers. The Iraqi Charities Forum is proud to say that they raised £126 in support of this worthwhile cause, and look forward to participating in similar events in the following months to come. .
