To what depths can man's inhumanity to asylum seekers sink?
In Memory of the estimated 50 people drowned when the ship carrying Iranian, Iraqi and Kurdish people from Indonesia to Australia's Christmas Island sank in rough seas, last December

Australia: Tomorrow begins our meanest hour. Twenty two people will be bussed from secret locations to funerals at  Rookwood Cemetery at 10:00 am and the Castlebrook Memorial Park at 2:30 pm.
In secret 14 coffins will be transported from Westmead Childrens Hospital.
Australians of good heart will gather at the gates with flowers and banners showing respect for the dead and support for the survivors in their grief.

Seena, an 8 year old boy will say goodbye to his mother and father who drowned in the shipwreck off Christmas island. Only his father's body has been found.

Mina with her two year old daughter Hamida, and  her sister Mitra and their father will mourn their mother, brother and uncle.

Hussein will bury his baby son , Sam and remember his wife, Maryam  whose body was not found.

Australians are people who bury their dead with respect and who comfort the grieving. Today another soldier was buried with all the respect and care that his family would want.

What has happened to us as a nation that we can treat these dead with so little respect and  ignore the pain of the grieving families.
The deceased have been stored in a refrigerated shipping container on Christmas island for two months.
Their families have been contained in a separate camp knowing that their families lie in the container, unable to show them respect and see them at peace.
Even now they were spirited into Sydney and are under guard in secret in a Motel unable to see their relatives in Sydney.
Every vestige of humanity and comfort is stripped from them.
On Wednesday they will be put in a plane and transported back to Christmas Island.   How has it come to this?
What brute nation have we become?
