The Najaf Welfare Rights Centre for people with Disabilities has been making much progress on standing up for the rights of people with disabilities. In April alone we were visited by a total of 55 people who came to us for support and advice on various social and medical issues they were having difficulties with.
Hamid Muslim Said (in the photo on the right) lives with a disability and supports seven of his family members . He visited the Centre to lodge a complaint about the treatment he received from his employer. The Al-Nazafa company had laid Mr Said off on the grounds that he was unable to meet the demands of his job due to his old age.
Mr Said has worked for the company for 6 years, and felt that their decision was unfair. After we had dealt with his application our staff took him to see the company's director and general manager. After a long process of discussions we managed to get him reinstated but transferred from Al-Nazafah to Al-Bastanah due to his old age.
Help us to continue to give advice and support to people with disabilities in Najaf.
As with all ICF donations, we pay for the transfer and conversion fees so that all your money reaches those in need. Unlike most charities we have a 0% admin fee policy so that we can ensure the maximum benefit to those depending on us. We can only carry on with the work we do with your support. Donate Now.
