We would like to congratulate Fulham Cross Girls’ School and Language College for choosing the Iraqi Charities Forum as one of the charities they raised funds for during their annual fundraiser. One of the students recommended that her school choose to donate to our Charity Bank for Small Businesses project which allows Iraqi women in need to support themselves and their families through our interest free loans and free business guidance.

 Thanks to all the hard work from staff and students alike, they managed to raise £473.68!

Everyone worked really hard to get together a really fun time table of fundraiser events for the whole week: They held a film club, a bake sale, a street performance, a fashion show, henna tattoo stall and a staff vs student dodge ball game!

The other funds the students  raised were donated to their partner school in Morocco – where they sponsor young girls who normally could not attend school and get an education. That’s what we call girl power all round!

The students a Fulham Cross have proved that if we want to help Iraqi women in need then we really can. By holding a few fundraiser events with family and friends we can raise money that can be lent to misfortunate women so that they can start up their very own businesses. The money the women make back will not only go to supporting their family independently and with dignity, but the money that they make back gets paid back into the Charity Bank ready to be lent to other women and their families. The skills that we teach women though the Charity Bank for Small Businesses can be passed on for generations to come.
