Fulham Cross Girls’ School supports the Charity Fund Project for a second time
08/05/2012

Iraqi Charities Forum/London

For the second time this year, FULHAM CROSS GIRLS’ SCHOOL (based in West London), has taken the initiative to raise funds and support the Charity Fund Project, and in particular the setting up of Women in Small Business.  Iraqi Charities Forum received a cheque this week totalling £618.88 collected by the girls as part of a fundraising initiative to support women around the world.  In May of this year, Fulham Cross Girls’ School raised £473.68. for this cause.

The Charity Fund is a project of Iraqi Charities Forum. It provides   support and training to women, widows and the poor in the establishment and maintenance of small enterprises.

The women are provided with an interest free “loan” from the Charity Fund which enables them to purchase, as in this case, a sewing machine and the required materials and consumables to turn the fabric into fashionable clothing.  In turn the garments are sold in the local marketplace.  Each women becomes responsible for the success of her “mini enterprise,” and together with on-going encouragement and support, the women take responsibility for themselves, their families, gain confidence, and most of all the recognition they each deserve.

The Iraqi Charities Forum sincerely thanks the Staff and Girls of Fulham Cross School for their generous support and commitment to the upliftment of the Women in Iraq.  Your donation will be utilized to facilitate more women accessing the Charity Fund, and thereby improving their quality of life.  Updates on the progress of the Sewing Machine Project will be featured on our website
