Appeal: Impoverished father afflicted with schizophrenia causes him to injure members of his family when he cannot get treatment.

On 8/1/13 an English benefactor living in the UK donated a monthly sum of £50 (roughly 100,000 Iraqi Dinars) for the benefit of Mr Kamal Thajil Nasir, and his family began to receive the payment a few days after the above date. The patient and his family live in bad circumstances in the Al-Maamal area of Baghdad, a slum area lacking the most basic services. The family of the father cannot afford the cost of his treatment, requiring an injection of MUDIKIT every 15 days and an injection of FULTIRINE every day in addition to valium tablets without which he cannot sleep. There are 8 children in the family - the oldest only 15 years old.

It is worth mentioning that the Centre's staff made an exploratory visit to the house of Kamal Thajil to view from closehand the condition of the family and found that the house lacked the most basic necessities of life such as furniture and electrical apparatus, and even their clothing was ragged and unfit to wear. Thus the family are in urgent need of help, especially as the mother is getting on in years and complains of many ailments that require care. Despite that she tries to provide a crust for her family. Her husband hits her daily when he has one of his turns, striking her on the eye recently and causing her to be taken to hopital.
